Each year, national and international radiology organizations recognize NAIRS members for their distinguished and extraordinary achievements in radiology. Dr. Vahid Yaghmai

2012 RSNA Honored Educator Award

NAIRS is pleased to announce that professor Vahid Yaghmai, MD, has received the 2012 RSNA Honored Educator Award.

The RSNA Honored Educator Award recognizes RSNA members who have produced an array of RSNA educational resources in the past calendar year. This annual award is given to individuals invested in furthering the profession of radiology by delivering high-quality educational content in their field of study.

2012 RSNA Trainee Research Prize

NAIRS is pleased to announce that Shima Aran, MD, research fellow from department of radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital, has received the 2012 RSNA Trainee Research Prize in the Physics Section for the project entitled “Estimating patient Size Specific Dose Estimates (SSDE) from displayed CT Dose Index volume (CTDIvol) for chest CT: The challenges with measuring the true size dimension”

The RSNA Trainee Research Prize recognizes RSNA members who have submitted the best paper in the specific categories for oral scientific presentation to acknowledge residents and fellows who play an active role in radiology research.

2012 AUR First Place Trainee Prize

Dr.  Hamid Chalian was recently awarded the First Place Trainee Prize by the Association of University Radiologists (AUR) 2012 for his abstract "Pseudoenhancement in Multidetector CT of Liver Masses: Implications for Assessing Viability".



The Association of University Radiologists, is comprised of over 3,000 academic radiologists, residents, and fellows. AUR's mission is to "stimulate an interest in academic radiology as a medical career; to advance radiology as a medical science; and to represent academic radiology at a national level".

2012 WMIC Travel Award

NAIRS is pleased to announce that Hossein Nejadnik, MD, PhD, postdoctoral fellow from radiology department of Stanford University has received the Travel award from World Molecular Imaging Conference (WMIC), Dublin, Ireland 2012 for the scientific presentation entitled “Detection of stem cell apoptosis with a novel smart contrast agent for MR imaging”.

The WMIC Student Travel Stipend Award recognizes the excellence of the abstract submitted for oral scientific presentation to acknowledge students and fellows who play an important role in molecular imaging research.

2012 Cum Laude Award SCBT.MR

NAIRS is proud to announce that  Dr. Azadeh Elmi awarded the Cum Laude Award by the Society of Computed Body Tomography & Magnetic Resonance 2012 for the abstract "Apparent Diffusion Coefficient as a Noninvasive Predictor of Local Recurrence in Rectal Cancer Prior to Neoadjuvant Therapy. “



The mission of the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance (SCBT-MR) is to improve patient care through the appropriate use of CT and MR by fostering innovative research and educating radiologists.

Dr. Pegah Entezari

2013 AUR Third Place Trainee Prize

NAIRS congratulates Dr. Pegah Entezari, postdoctoral research fellow from department of radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, for receiving the 2013 Association of University Radiologists Third Place Scientific Trainee Prize.

Dr. Entezari won the award for her abstract entitled "Semi-Automated versus Manual Method: Assessment of Thoracic Aorta Dimensions by Two Different Methods" (co-authored by Amir R. Honarmand, MD; Aya Kino, MD; Sameer A. Ansari, MD, PhD; Jeremy Collins, MD; Vahid Yaghmai, MD and James Carr, MD).

2012 RSNA Trainee Research Prize Award

NAIRS is pleased to announce that Hossein Nejadnik, MD, PhD, postdoctoral fellow from radiology department of Stanford University has received the Trainee Research Prize Award from RSNA 2012 for the scientific presentation entitled “GadofluorineM - An Alternative MR Cell Marker to SPIO for Monitoring Matrix-Associated Stem Cell Implants in Cartilage Defects”.

The RSNA Trainee Research Prize Award is presented in recognition of an important contribution to research in radiology by a trainee in the field. This award recognizes RSNA members who have submitted the best paper for oral scientific presentation, to acknowledge fellows who play an active role in radiology research.

Dr. Mehran Midia



2012 ARRS & JVIR Top Reviewer 

Dr. Mehran Midia, MD, FRCPC from McMaster University at Hamilton, Canada has been recognized by ARRS as top reviewer for AJR in 2012 and will be listed on the masthead page of ARRS journal each month for a year.

In addition, Dr. Mehran Midia has been received Editor’s choice award for Top Reviewer for JVIR in the same year and has been invited to join the Editorial Board of the JVIR.

Dr. Kambiz Motamedi


2012 RSNA IVP to visit Nepal 

NAIRS announces that  Kambiz Motamedi, MD,  Associate Professor of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, was selected as one of the three International Visiting Professors (IVP) by RSNA to visit Nepal in 2012. The IVP team attended the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Fifth Congress of Radiology in Dharan, in eastern Nepal and held several lectures and workshops during the meeting.
 
In addition to visiting the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, the team further travelled to Katmandu, the capital of Nepal, and to Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the birthplace of the Buddha, and visited the local teaching hospitals.  At these locations Dr. Motamedi and other members of the IVP team interacted with staff and residents and provided lectures and onsite training.

2013 SAR GI Lifetime Achievement Award

NAIRS is proud to announce that  Ali Shirkhoda, MD, FACR of the University of California School of Medicine at Irvine was selected as the 2013 SAR GI Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

Dr. Shirkhoda were honored during the Inaugural Meeting of the SAR Society, Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Maui, Hawaii.

2013 Roscoe E. Miller Best GI Paper Award

Featured on the cover of July, 2013 edition of AJR

Dr. Yaghmai's group won the Roscoe E. Miller Best GI Paper Award of the Society of Abdominal Radiology in Feb 2013 for the paper titled:
Does 90Y-radioembolization of Colon Cancer Liver Metastases  n One Lobe Alter the Growth Kinetics of Contralateral Untreated Lesions?



This award is given to the top research paper in Gastrointestinal Radiology at the Society of Abdominal Radiology's annual meeting. The meeting was held in Maui, HI in Feb 2013.

Dr. Yaghmai's paper was featured on the cover of July, 2013 edition of the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR). The article is titled “Imaging Assessment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Response to Locoregional and Systemic Therapy” 

The AJR is a highly regarded peer-reviewed journal with a worldwide circulation of close to 25,000, and is recognized as one of the top specialty journals.

NAIRS is pleased to announce that Amir Reza Honarmand, MD, post-doctoral research fellow from the Department of Radiology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, has received Outstanding Fellow Abstract Award at the 2013 Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS) Meeting.
 
Each year, this award is granted to the best abstract presented by a fellow at the SNIS Annual Meeting. Dr. Honarmand won the award for the abstract entitled “Evaluation of Baseline CT ASPECTS in Perfusion-guided Selected Patients for Intra-arterial Reperfusion Therapy” (co-authored by Maryam Soltanolkotabi, Shyam Prabhakaran, Michael C. Hurley, Ozair Rahman, Ali Shaibani, and Sameer A. Ansari).
